Dr. Koontz, board certified through the American Board of Surgery (ABS), is a general and pediatric surgeon specializing in minimally invasive surgical techniques in infants and children. Dr. Koontz joined University Surgical Associates in 2009.
He is currently one of four pediatric surgeons that manages pediatric trauma at Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. Since his arrival at Children's at Erlanger he has taken an active role in education for our regional facilities and has spoken at our annual Pediatric Potpourri as well as our State EMSC conference held in Chattanooga. He is often a guest speaker at our regional education events.
He is serving as the Chief of Pediatric surgery at Children's Hospital as well.
